Privacy policy

What this site stores, what it does not, and what you can control.

Tunewide is a free online radio directory operated by Forgewide. This page explains, in plain terms, what happens to data when you use the site.

What stays in your browser only. Your favourites, recently played stations, chosen volume and stations marked as not responding are stored in your browser's local storage. They never leave your device, are not sent to us, and are not linked to any account — there are no accounts on this site. The same storage holds your taste profile: which stations you played, how long you listened and which ones you switched off straight away. It stays on your device too. When you ask for a mood pick, the browser sends only a short summary of it — a handful of genres with weights, such as “dance, pop, not classic rock” — so the pick can match you. That summary is used to answer your request and is not stored on our side, not logged and not linked to anything. Clearing site data in your browser erases the profile completely.

What our server sees. Like any web server, ours records standard access logs: IP address, time, requested page, referring page and browser identification. These logs are used to measure traffic and to protect the site from abuse, and are kept for up to 30 days.

Our own statistics. Beyond the server logs, the site records how it is used: which pages are opened, which stations are started and for how long they are listened to, what is typed into the search box, and which mood buttons are pressed. Along with that we store the page language, the device type (phone, tablet, computer) and the time zone your browser reports — the time zone is how we know roughly which region listeners come from, and it is the reason we never ask for your location. Your IP address is not stored: only its network part is taken, mixed with a secret value and hashed one way, so one visitor can be told apart from another but no address can be recovered. Automated traffic is filtered out. These records are kept for 180 days and are used to build station ratings and to understand what to improve. They are not sold, not shared and not sent to any third party.

Broadcast history. Separately from visitors, the site records what stations broadcast: the track title a station reports, with a timestamp. This is information about radio programming, not about people — it contains nothing that could identify a listener.

Third parties. When you press play, your browser connects directly to the radio station's own server. That server sees your IP address and browser, exactly as if you had opened the stream address yourself. We have no control over what individual stations log — their own policies apply. Station data comes from the public radio-browser.info database.

Advertising. The site may show advertising. Personalised advertising is enabled only if you consent to it in the cookie banner. If you choose essential only, advertising cookies are not set and any advertising shown is non-personalised.

Your choices. You can clear favourites and history at any time using the Clear all buttons on the site, or by clearing site data in your browser. You can change your cookie choice at any time from the link in the footer. For anything else, write to hello@forgewide.com.

Children. This site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes. If this policy changes materially, the updated version will be published on this page.
