About Tunewide Radio

Tunewide Radio (tunewide.com) is a small independent project: a catalogue of live internet radio stations with a player that keeps playing while you browse. No label, no network and no station owns us.

Tunewide is made by a small team in Europe — a developer, a designer and an editor who looks after the catalogue. We started it for ourselves: we wanted one place to open any radio station in the world, press play and not fight with pop-ups. The site is run by Forgewide and lives at tunewide.com since 2026.

Where the stations come from. The base list is the open community database radio-browser.info. Before a station appears here we connect to its stream and check that it actually plays and works over HTTPS. Roughly one station in four in public directories is dead or silently blocked by browsers, so of about 40,000 entries only around 6,000 make it in. The check is repeated every week; stations that stop responding are removed.

Where the track lists come from. Many stations send the current song title inside the audio stream (ICY metadata). A small service of ours reads that title every couple of minutes and writes it down with a timestamp. That is what you see as “what played” and in the weekly tops. We do not buy or scrape playlists from anywhere else and do not guess titles. If a station sends adverts or website addresses instead of song names, we strip them; if it sends nothing, the page honestly shows that.

What we edit by hand. Genres and country names are normalised so that similar stations sit together; station names are shown as the station reports them, minus website addresses stuck to the end. Pages about popular Ukrainian stations carry frequencies and cities that we checked against the stations’ own sites. Everything else — tops, hours of activity, similar stations — is computed from the airplay we recorded, not written by hand.

What we do not do. We do not re-stream audio through our servers: the player connects straight to the station. We do not require an account, do not sell data and do not show pop-up ads over the content. The only advertising is short clips in the full-screen mode of the player, and they are not shown during the first minutes.

Mistakes and removals. If a station is wrong, silent or listed in the wrong country, write to us from the contact page and we will fix it. If you represent a station and want it removed, use the removal page: it goes within three working days and we do not ask for a justification.

Questions

Is Tunewide free?

Yes. Listening costs nothing and needs no account. The project is paid for by a few short advertising clips in the full-screen player mode.

Who checks the stations?

An automatic check connects to every stream once a week and listens for real audio. The catalogue editor reviews what the check rejects and handles requests from listeners and stations.

Can I add a station?

Yes — send the name and the stream address from the contact page. If the stream works and is public, it appears after the next weekly check.
